People, if you find unexplained stuff happening to you, like people contradicting themselves and swearing they're not, stuff moving from where you left it or disappearing, etc, do not automatically question yourself, your memory, or your sanity. Question the ppl around you. A boss or coworker who is a problem? A friend who lately for some reason has been giving you a bad vibe, but you don't know why?

"Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse. It involves an increasing frequency of systematically withholding factual information from, and/or providing false information to the subject, having the gradual effect of making the victim anxious, confused, and less able to trust his or her own memory and perception. A variation of gaslighting, used as a form of harassment, is to subtly alter aspects of a victim's environment, thereby upsetting his or her peace of mind, sense of security, etc.

The term was coined from the 1940 film Gaslight and its 1944 remake in which changes in gas light levels are experienced several times by the main character. The classic example in the film is the character Gregory using the gas lamps in the attic, causing the rest of the lamps in the house to dim slightly; when Paula comments on the lights' dimming, she is told she is imagining things. Paula believes herself alone in the house when the dimming occurs, unaware that Gregory has entered the attic from the house next door. The sinister interpretation of the change in light levels is part of a larger pattern of deception to which the character Paula is subjected.

This technique is also supposed to have been used by the Manson Family during their "creepy crawler" burglaries during which nothing was stolen, but furniture in the house was rearranged."



This was done to me and my partner by someone we thought was a trusted friend. The damage to our relationship was serious because I was being framed for the occurrences. We're still finding screwed up things around the house, but at least we know we can trust each other now and that part is settled.

Oh, and if the ASSHAT who did this is reading? FUCK YOU. You pretentious, freeloading, lying, conniving, psychotic, porn addicted, melon headed ASSHAT. Are you now enjoying sitting home alone all day every day with no friends, nowhere to go and nothing to do? That's your reward for screwing us over. What we give, we can also take away. Everybody knows about you now. No one on the scene (or elsewhere) will have anything to do with you. No one will let you into the clubs or invite you to anything. Did you really think you'd never get caught, or that I wouldn't believe the girl friend who busted you in the act? WRONG. You gave me bad vibes for the past year and now I know why. I'm disgusted by you. Enjoy your life of absolutely NOTHING.
